Opulence within the Rugged
Tabitha C. is a multidisciplinary artist residing in semi-rural southern Vermont.
They work with predominantly found objects, spanning from reassembled vintage jewelry to taxidermy specimens found in local woodlands and preserved by the artist.
Rather than steeping their work in mysticism and magic, their aim is to highlight and expound upon the beauty already existing within the bones of the animals they work with.
Their miniature work is a cobbling together of handmade miniatures and reworked existing miniatures, often again using plants and animals to develop a feeling of intimacy between flora, fauna, and home.
Inspired by 19th century decor, medieval persuasions, gothic ephemera, the brutality of nature, the luster of brass, and opulent grotesques.

Each piece from Opulent Garlic is quite literally one-of-a-kind; specimens found by the artist are preserved by hand in their studio and paired with intention to the various vintage jewelry parts in their collection.
All specimens not found at the farm the artist spends their day at are procured through the help of a local taxidermist in Newfane, Vermont, and were found dead by natural causes or roadway incidents.
